articoavela.com and arcticnerds.com are operated by Black Wires LLC (USA). The data controller is Black Wires LLC; the legal notice at the end of this page gives the operator's details.
These sites take no payments and collect no card or bank details. For anything related to your personal data, write to dispatch@rexsailing.com.
What we collect
When you request a berth or send a research enquiry, we collect what you type: your name and email and, if you add them, the number of people, your preferred dates, your phone, sailing experience, country and notes (on the science page, also your institution or project). With them go the voyage you chose and the page and language you sent the form from and, if measurement is allowed, the page you first landed on, the page that linked to us and the ad and campaign tags of that link (gclid, utm_*).
The form passes all of this to our enquiry system, together with your IP address, which is used only to block spam and abuse (rate limiting). We use your details to answer you and to organise the voyage you asked about and, if measurement is allowed, to measure our ads (below).
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement to understand how the site is used and whether our advertising works. Your device's time zone sets the default: if it is in Europe (the UK and Switzerland included), in a European overseas territory, or can't be told (for example UTC), these cookies stay off until you accept them. Everywhere else they start on. Anyone can accept or decline at any time under Cookie settings; declining deletes the Google cookies this site set, and no part of the site is lost.
When you request a berth and measurement is allowed, Google also receives a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email, and of your phone number if you give one, so we can tell which ad led to the request. The cookies and browser storage this site uses are listed in the table below.
Sharing and retention
We do not sell your data. Enquiries are stored in our enquiry system and seen only by the crew who answer them, apart from the hashed copy Google receives for ad measurement (above). You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing dispatch@rexsailing.com.
Cookies on this site
Google's cookies are set only if you accept them (or, outside the regions that opt in, until you decline). The last four rows are browser storage, not cookies: they never leave your browser except as described.
